A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences after a young girl was seriously injured in a collision involving a motorbike in Tamworth. We were called to a footpath across a playing field near to Cambrian yesterday (Monday 13 July) following reports that a black motorbike, with a rider and passenger, had collided with a young girl who was on a push bike at around 4.10pm. The girl was taken to hospital by ambulance where she remains in a serious but stable condition. Her injuries are believed to be potentially life-changing. A 16-year-old boy was arrested a short time later on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink and driving while unfit through drugs. He remains in police custody while our inquiries continue. We are continuing to appeal for the other young man, who we believe to have also been on the motorbike, to come forward. Detective Inspector Dave Rowlands, of our criminal investigation department, said: “I would urge the other young man to do the right thing and come forward to us. “A young girl has been seriously injured and is undergoing extensive treatment in hospital. “Anyone who knows the young man should consider their conscience and report what they know to us.” We are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or who may have relevant CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage. Anyone with information should call us on 101 quoting incident number 601 of 13 July. To report anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
